Odisha excise personnel have taken 511 individuals into custody and seized drugs and illicit liquor worth around Rs 4 crore during a statewide drive over the last four days.
The statewide crackdown on illicit liquor and narcotics substances from 1 to 4 September has paid rich dividends. During this period, enforcement teams detected 902 cases, arrested 511 persons, and made seizures valued at Rs 3.91 Crore.

The drive also led to the registration of 29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) cases, resulting in the seizure of 320 Kg of cannabis and 560 grams of brown sugar, informed the officials.
On 4 September alone, the department detected 254 cases, arrested 148 persons, and seized illicit liquor and drugs worth Rs 1.39 crore. This included 8 NDPS cases, with recoveries of 84 Kg of cannabis, 194 grams of brown sugar, 13 kg of bhanga, and 840 kg of Mahua Flower, 22 four-wheelers, added excise personnel.
